Cricket News: Sehwag reflects on MS Dhoni being questioned over retirement

The 16th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 is already started, and fans have only one question: whether or not CSK skipper MS Dhoni will be playing after the current edition of the IPL.

Many have speculated that Dhoni may retire from the cash-rich league after 2023.

Notably, during Chennai's penultimate game against the Lucknow Super Giants, former New Zealand cricketer Danny Morrison playfully asked the 41-year-old if he was enjoying his final season, to which Dhoni cheekily retorted that Morrison had opted to make it his last season, rather than him.

Former Indian batter Virender Sehwag has spoken out about MS Dhoni being repeatedly nagged about his retirement. He believes that rehashing the same question makes no sense, and that the decision is entirely Dhoni's.

"I just don't understand; why do they even ask? Even if it's his last year, why do you have to ask the player? It's his call; let him take that! Maybe he just wanted to get that answer out of Dhoni-that it was indeed his last season. Whether it's his last year or not, only MS Dhoni knows,"

Virender Sehwag told Cricbuzz.

In the 45th game of the competition, the four-time winners faced Lucknow at the Ekana Sports City Stadium. The hosts struggled with the bat after losing the toss and being thrown in to bat first. However, Ayush Badoni's 59* run knock in 33 balls helped the side reach 125 before the rain arrived.

Moeen Ali, Maheesh Theekshana, and Matheesha Pathirana each claimed two wickets to help Chennai restrict their opponents to a modest score. However, the game was eventually called off due to persistent rain, with both teams earning a point.

Currently, both LSG and CSK have played 10 matches each and have secured 11 points with the Lucknow side sitting just above Chennai with a better Net Run Rate (NRR)
