India and Mumbai Indians captain Rohit Sharma stated which player irritates him the most on the pitch. On Thursday, May 3, Rohit Sharma's Mumbai Indians chased down 215 runs against Punjab Kings, thanks to fantastic performances by Ishan Kishan (75 off 41) and Suryakumar Yadav (66 off 31).
The MI skipper answered a wide range of questions in an open interview on Star Sports, and his comments were quite intriguing. When asked to choose one player on the pitch that irked him the most, the flashy right-hander named wicketkeeper-batter Dinesh Karthik.
"Dinesh Karthik irritates me a lot. He can be really irritating on the field,"
Rohit told Star Sports.
Former India pacer S Sreesanth was caught aback by the remark and stated that Dinesh is a really 'sweet person' off the pitch in the same segment.
"Running between the wickets is not something he (Rohit Sharma) would enjoy with DK (Dinesh Karthik) but off the field, DK is such a sweet person and he is always there for you and all that, so it was pretty surprising,"
Sreesanth said.
For the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB), the 37-year-old keeper-batter has yet to strike the ground running and generate devastating smashes down the order. Dinesh has 99 runs in nine matches and will need to boost the ante for his team in the next matchups.
In the triumph over Punjab, skipper Rohit was removed for a third-ball duck during the pursuit of 215 runs, extending the home team's dominance in the battle.
Suryakumar and Ishan's 116-run partnership, though, shifted the momentum and helped the Kings win in Mohali.
Suryakumar's innings had eight fours and two sixes at a breathtaking strike rate of 212.90, while Ishan's magnificent performance included four maximums and seven boundaries.
Mumbai won their second consecutive 200-plus chase after defeating Rajasthan while chasing 213 runs in the previous encounter. With five wins in nine matches, Rohit Sharma and company are sixth on the IPL Points Table with 10 points.
