The UK government said on Thursday that they may take "the nuclear option" of creating an independent regulator to rule over the country's cricketing governing body if they fail to act over recent revelations of racism in the game.
UK sports minister Nigel Huddleston told members of Parliament that a regulator was one of the options on the table if the England and Wales Cricket Board "don't get their act together".
The claims come in a week where MPs heard the testimony of former Yorkshire player Azeem Rafiq who told of his experiences of racism, implicating a host of big names.
Huddleston said on Thursday that he believed the game in the UK was "institutionally racist".
