The Chess Players Forum, headed by Varugeese Koshy has been in the limelight for a while now over numerous reasons, especially since the time it has written to the Central Government against the All India Chess Federation for not following National Development Sports Code 2011 and has also highlighted few issues which they are concerned about the most. In a statement written by CPF, addressed to MYAS Minister Kiren Rijiju, it was mentioned that the AICF is not following Sports Code, something which is strictly mandatory for every National Sports Federation. The two major concerns by CPF from the perspective of chess players brought before the sports minister are first, the Code of Conduct for players as mentioned in the Constitution of AICF and second the non-inclusion of prominent chess players of the country in the management of AICF to a minimum of 25 per cent of the total strength with voting rights, as stipulated in the Sports Code.
