Chess News: AICF verdict likely to be heard on November 9 by Madras HC

The matter of who is going to lead the All India Chess Federation in future is likely to be decided by the Madras High Court on November 9. The online hearing which took place on October 15 2020 highlighted various issues including the online meeting which took place on Apr 22 that also sparked controversy in the entire federation and was termed illegal by the Madras HC in an interim order dated Aug 28. The matter heard on October 15 2020 was an ‘impleadment application’ filed by 18 state units, which says that they had called for an online general special meeting on April 22. Getting the support of state associations is of optimum importance for both the factions as AICF elections will be held as soon as the situation becomes normal.
