Badminton News : Saina Nehwal, Parupalli Kashyap crash out in first rd at Swiss Open 2021

India shuttlers including PV Sindhu and Kidambi Srikanth made a good start at the Swiss Open 2021 but a dismal run continued for shuttlers like Saina Nehwal and Parupalli Kashyap, who were shown the exit gate in the first round itself. Nehwal and Kashyap crashed out in the first round of the Swiss Open Super 300 tournament, while B Sai Praneeth booked his place in the pre-quarters. Nehwal lost in a tough-fought 3-game clash against 20-year-old Phittayaporn Chaiwan of Thailand 16-21,21-17, 21-23. Kashyap lost to lower-ranked Pablo Abian of Spain 15-21,10-21. Praneeth defeated Isreal’s Misha Zilberman 21-11,21-14 quite easily and will take on Abian in the next round. Earlier in the night, PV Sindhu and Kidambi Srikanth entered the Round of 16 at the Swiss Open Super after their respective wins in the women’s and men’s singles competitions. While world champion Sindhu beat Yigit Neslihan of Turkey 21-16 21-19 in her first round match that lasted 42 minutes, Srikanth staved off a spirited challenge from compatriot Sameer Verma to make a winning start to his campaign.
