Motorsport News : Marcus Ericsson wins Detroit Grand Prix race one

Sweden's Marcus Ericsson claimed the Indycar victory of his career on Saturday, winning an incident-filled Detroit Grand Prix race one at the Belle Isle Street Circuit. Ericsson's compatriot Felix Rosenqvist left the track on a stretcher after suffering a horrific crash on the 25th of the race's 70 laps. That led to one of many appearances from the red flag, which caused 90 minutes of delays in total - the last coming after Romain Grosjean slid into a wall with five laps to go. Will Power led at that point, but he was unable to restart his engine after the nine-minute delay. Ericsson profitted from Power's misfortune, while Rinus van Kalmthout and Patricio O'Ward finished in second and third place respectively. Alex Palou finished down in 15th, but remains top of the championship standings heading into Sunday's race two.
