Sabine Lisicki was left visibly stunned at the Thailand Open after a ball girl ruthlessly stamped on an insect which landed on court during her first round match against Garbine Muguruza on Monday. Ball boys and girls are often required to assist on court, usually retrieving stray balls, but this ball girl went to extra lengths to attend to the players needs. Bright floodlights in Hua Hin attracted the unwelcome insect just as Lisicki was preparing to return Muguruza's serve. The former Wimbledon finalist tried to gently flick the bug away, but she was caught by surprise when the ball girl ran to her aid, stamped hard and squashed the insect. Lisicki appeared startled and turned away from the mess on court, before composing herself and smiling.
