Jeremy Chardy came out on top - just - in an all-French second round match with Richard Gasquet at the Hamburg European Open. Chardy recovered from dropping his serve in the opening game to take the first set on a tiebreak and then broke the Gasquet serve in the 11th game of the second before closing out a 7-6(5), 7-5 victory in just under two hours. The world number 77's reward is a quarter-final encounter with either Juan Ignacio Londero of Argentina or Georgia's Nikoloz Basilashvili.
