Tennis: Aryna Sabalenka beats Daria Gavrilova in the second round of Connecticut Open

Aryna Sabalenka is playing some high quality tennis at the moment. The Belarussian reached the semi-finals at the Western & Southern Open in her last outing, and the world number 25 marched into the quarterfinals here in Connecticut. But she had to work hard against defending champion Daria Gavrilova. She took the first set with ease 6-3, but her Australian opponent fought back in the second and took it on a tiebreak. But back came Sabalenka and despite a fightback from Gavrilova, took the win 6-3, 6-7(6), 7-5 in a match that lasted two hours and 46 minutes. A mixed performance in truth – with 15 double faults and 62 unforced errors allied with 45 winners.
