Tennis: Andreescu beats Kerber 6-4 3-6 6-4 to win the Indian Wells title

Canadian teenager Bianca Andreescu beat former World number one Angelique Kerber 6-4 3-6 6-4 to win the women's title at Indian Wells. Andreescu was making her first appearance in the main draw - and was ranked outside the top 150 at the start of the year. She became the fourth unseeded champion in the event, following in the illustrious footsteps of Serena Williams, Kim Clijsters and Naomi Osaka. A break in the opening service game of the match proved sufficient for her to take the set 6-4. Kerber duly fought her way back into contention, dominating the key points of the second set with consecutive backhand errors from the Canadian allowing her to take it 6-3 and force the match into a decider. But Andreescu showed plenty of character in fighting back from a break down in the third set to secure the stunning victory.
