Cricket News: IPL 2020 - Rajasthan register thumping win over Chennai

Rajasthan beat Chennai by 7 wickets at the Sheikh Zayed stadium in Abu Dhabi as three-time champions slipped to the bottom of the IPL points table while Rajasthan kept themselves afloat for the play-off berth. Electing to bat first, Chennai got off to a poor start losing Faf du Plessis and Shane Watson early. Sam Curran struck a few boundaries but couldn't carry on for long as leg-spinner Shreyas Gopal got him caught behind stumps. Ambati Rayudu also fell cheaply, with only 56 runs on the board. Captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni and Ravindra Jadeja added 51 runs in 7.4 overs as Rajasthan restricted Chennai to 125/5. Chasing a modest target of 12, Rajasthan lost early wickets of Ben Stokes, Robin Uthappa and Sanju Samson with just 28 runs on board. But Jos Buttler's blistering 70 not out snatched a much-needed win for his side.Despite the hiccups, an unbeaten 98-run stand between Buttler and skipper Steve Smith was enough to steer Rajasthan to victory. A win which has kept Rajasthan afloat for the play-off berth but potentially knocked out Chennai from the race.
