Match 11 – GPCL: Shabik and Udara helps Sri Lankan Violets to a decent total against Australian Golds

The match no. 11 of GPCL's 1st edition sees Sri Lankan Violets locking horns with the Australian Golds. The Lankan's won the toss and opted to bat first after a humiliating defeat yesterday night.
The Violets did lose an early wicket in the first over but thanks to Bhandari, who bowled the most expensive over of the tournament conceding 25. While Mcinerney restricted the Lankans from overpowering as he gave away just 3 runs in the first 2 overs and also picked up a crucial wicket. After the first 3 overs it was 28 for 1.
Meanwhile, Australian Gold's spinners were dominating the Sri Lankans on a turning wicket. However, the Lankan's were able to keep up the scoring rate even after losing 2 wickets inside the Powerplay. After 6 it was 42-2.
After losing the opening 3 batsman, the Sri Lankan Violets' innings was staidly built by a partnership between Shabik and Udara.
Shabak completed 50-run mark as the Sri Lankan's looked on to achieve a defendable total. After Udara's departure Shabak too followed him and thus the Violets could not finish it off on a stronger note as they ended the innings with a total of 146-7.

The chase will begin shortly.
