Football News : Chelsea given a major boost to sign in Allan Saint-Maximin

According to reports, Newcastle United might be willing to let Chelsea buy attacking forward Allan Saint-Maximin during the summer transfer window. The Frenchman produced five goals and five assists in 35 Premier League games for the Magpies last season with his explosive displays down the left side.

Saint-Maximin, 25, has played for the club in 93 games across all competitions since the Magpies and Nice agreed to a £16.2 million transfer deal in 2019. During the time, Saint-Maximin has scored 12 goals and dished out 16 assists.

Saint-Maximin, who still has four years left on his St. James' Park deal, was initially anticipated to play a key role in the club's long-term goals under the new ownership. Dean Jones, a journalist, asserted that Newcastle no longer saw the attacker as essential.

"Saint-Maximin, Newcastle would drive him there, to be honest. I mean, they are looking for a buyer for Saint-Maximin, and if it was Chelsea, their eyes would light up and they would be very keen to get every penny they possibly could out of him,"

Jones told GIVEMESPORT.

"I know Tottenham [Hotspur] have been linked to Saint-Maximin, too. Newcastle don't see him as part of their future project."

Moreover, they were willing to let him go amid rumours of links to Thomas Tuchel's team. According to a different story from The Athletic, Chelsea and Spurs have spoken about acquiring Saint-Maximin, but the Magpies have placed a £40 million price tag on the forward which might not be liked by the two clubs.

The two London teams consequently lost interest in the former France Under-21 international. The one who has received a stern warning from Newcastle on his demands for a new contract, & has been instructed to provide evidence as to why he merits better terms.

Saint-Maximin has reportedly allegedly irritated the establishment by flouting training-ground regulations, but he has nevertheless been piqueing interest across Europe. Thus, he can be out from the St. James' Park very soon.

Newcastle has not yet added a new attacking player to their roster during the summer transfer window since Moussa Diaby has been made clear by Bayer Leverkusen that he is not for sale.

Eddie Howe's team is rumoured to have switched their focus to Timo Werner after Hugo Ekitike and Hugo Ekitike both agreed to season-long loans from Reims to Paris Saint-Germain.

Werner and Saint-Maximin have not yet been mentioned as potential trade targets for the two clubs, and Chelsea has already added Raheem Sterling to boost their offensive capabilities in the final third.

Therefore, Tuchel's team should prioritise bringing in defensive players. However, the Blues have encountered many setbacks in their search for Antonio Rudiger and Andreas Christensen successors.
