Arsenal head coach Mikel Arteta said his counterpart at Chelsea, Frank Lampard, "needs time" and the club must "support him and give him a chance." Lampard has come under pressure following a poor run of results which has seen them fall 11 points behind English Premier League leaders Manchester United, with just two victories in their previous eight league outings. But Arteta said that, given the fixture congestion this season which has resulted from the on-going coronavirus pandemic, all managers have not had "time to work on anything." Arteta also revealed it is "impossible" to see how contract situations of players no longer wanted at clubs can develop, after both Mesut Ozil and Sokratis Papastathopoulos both left Arsenal in January but were deemed surplus to requirements many months before then.
