Yamaha's Maverick Vinales was more than half a second quicker than the rest on the second day of MotoGP pre-season testing at Sepang in Malaysia on Thursday. Vinales, with 1 minute 58.897 seconds, got to within a tenth of a second of the lap record set by Jorge Lorenzo last season, a pace described by his Monster Energy team-mate Valentino Rossi as 'unattainable'. Vinales was the only rider to break the 1:59 barrier - Alex Rins of Suzuki got closest, followed by the Ducatis of Jack Miller and Andrea Dovizioso. Cal Crutchlow was fifth fastest for Honda, despite suffering a crash. Rossi was sixth on the timesheet, followed by Tito Rabat for Ducati. Reigning MotoGP champion Marc Marquez, who was quickest on Wednesday, could only manage eighth on Thursday. Danilo Petrucci and Takaaki Nakagami rounded out the top ten.
