Football : Sydney FC beat A League leaders Perth Glory 2-1

A-League leaders Perth Glory suffered their first defeat of the season, as Tony Popovic's side went down 2-1 at home to Sydney FC. Adam le Fondre opened the scoring for the visitors after 18 minutes and substitute Daniel De Silva made it 2-0 three minutes from time. Chris Ikonomidis then pulled a goal back for Perth, setting up a frantic finish and they had the ball in the net again in stoppage time only for Brendon Santalab's effort to be ruled out for a foul on Sydney goalkeeper Andrew Redmayne. Sydney moved to within three points of Perth as a result and handed defending champions Melbourne Victory the chance to go to the top of the standings.
