Benfica kept the Portuguese title race alive - for 24 hours at least - following a 2-0 win over Vitoria Guimaraes at the Stadium of Light on Tuesday. Leaders Porto had opened up an eight-point lead over Benfica at the top of the table with three games to play last Thursday when they won and Benfica could only draw at Famalicao. But Nelson Verissimo's defending champions got back to winning ways with a goal in each half from Chiquinho and Haris Seferovic. Benfica didn't have it all go their way though - Marcus Edwards hit the woodwork for Guimaraes before Benfica took the lead and Joao Pedro had the ball in the net but was ruled offside before Seferovic made the game safe three minutes from time. Benfica may have just delayed the inevitable for a day though - Porto entertain third-placed Sporting on Wednesday and a fifth-straight win would render Benfica's efforts here academic.
