The Individual Wrestling World Cup has not been that great for the Indian wrestlers competing in the Greco-Roman category as right after Gyanender lost his bout in the quarterfinal match, it was the end of the journey for wrestlers in that respective category. The day started on a bright note for India as Gyanender registered a 3-0 win in his qualification match over Armenia’s Armen Melikyan to enter pre-quarterfinals. The Indian maintained the momentum that he had gained from his first match in his second bout as well as he defeated Abdennour Laouni of Algeria 5-1 in a closely contested match. Gyanender though failed to continue his winning run as he lost 9-0 on technical superiority against the local star, Kristian Fris in the quarterfinal match.
