Wrestling News : Nine Indian wrestlers selected for Asian Olympic Trials

Nine wrestlers were picked from Greco Roman and Freestyle categories from the national selection trial held at Indira Gandhi Stadium in New Delhi. Selection trial was held in six weight categories of Greco Roman Style and three weight categories of Freestyle to select teams for the Asian Olympic qualifiers event and 2021 senior Asian Championship. Gurpreet, Sunil, Gyanendra (60 kg), Ashu (67 kg), Ravi (97 kg), and Naveen (130) are the wrestlers selected in the Greco Roman Style. Meanwhile, Sandeep Singh Mann (74 kg), Satyawart Kadian (97 kg), and Sumit (125 kg) are the three wrestlers selected in the Freestyle event. The trial in the remaining weight categories will be held in the third week of the month. Earlier, two-time Olympic medallist Sushil Kumar opted out of the national selection trials. Wrestling Federation of India (WFI) assistant secretary Vinod Tomar said that Sushil informed the federation that he will not be participating in the trials as he is not feeling fully fit.
