Italy beat Thailand in straight sets 25-15, 25-12, 25-15 for their seven-straight victory in the second round of the Women's World Championship. The 2014 World Championship bronze medallist controlled the match from start to finish to lead pool F with seven victories, while Thailand dropped to 3-4. Opposite spiker Paola Ogechi Egonu ended with 15 points as top scorer, followed by Cristina Chirichella with 12. Lucia Bosetti, who finished the match with seven points, had to leave the match after feeling dizzy in the second set. Luckily for Italy, Bosetti returned and completed the match. Thailand's Onuma Sittirak top-scored for her team with 13 points.
