Andy Murray attracted a capacity crowd to the Melbourne Arena for what was possibly his last match at the Australian Open and the majority was firmly in his corner as he took on the number 22 seed, Spain's Roberto Bautista Agut. Battling injury and ring-rustiness, Murray could hardly have drawn a more awkward opponent in the first round and Bautista Agut duly took command with a two-set lead. The Spaniard also went a break up in the third, but Murray dug deep, rediscovered some of the old magic that had taken him to the final in Melbourne five times in the past and he levelled the match by taking the next two sets on tiebreaks. The decider was one step too far for the former world number one though and after more than four hours on court, Bautista Agut closed out a 6-4, 6-4, 6-7(5), 6-7(4), 6-2 victory.
