IPL 2023: Hardik Pandya fined for violating IPL code of conduct

Some players in the ongoing IPL 2023 have violated the IPL code of conduct, which is in place to maintain the fair sports spirit of the big cricket carnival.

In the most recent infraction, Gujarat Titans skipper Hardik Pandya was found guilty of failing to keep up with the prescribed over rate while his team was bowling against the Punjab Kings on Thursday at the Punjab Cricket Association IS Bindra Stadium in Mohali.

Notably, Pandya is the third player in the 2023 edition, following Faf du Plessis and Sanju Samson, to be fined for the over-rate offence.

Gujarat Titans captain Hardik Pandya has been fined 12 lakhs (approx. 25% of match fee) for violating the IPL code of conduct for committing a slow over-rate offence.

Pandya was taken off guard after limiting the Punjab Kings to a short total because he did not anticipate to be involved in a competitive game. Surprisingly, he stated that the team will investigate the basis for this during their team meeting.

Among all of this, two players stood out for their batting and bowling prowess in a game in which GT maintained their dominance in their second season as well.

In yesterday's game, Gujarat Titans maintained their winning streak thanks to another fantastic fifty from starter Shubman Gill. The sensational hitter struck his second fifty of the IPL 2023 season.'

Gill scored 67 off 49 balls. During his time at the crease, the Fajilika native hit seven fours and one six. It's worth noting that Gill hit his fifty with a magnificent cover drive off Deepak Chahar. However, Sam Curran dismissed the opener in the final over.

Meanwhile, Gujarat Titans will host Rajasthan Royals in their next match on Friday, April 16, at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.

In another memorable effort, experienced Indian pacer Mohit Sharma produced a superb bowling show in what was his comeback match in the big carnival, propelling the Titans to a six-wicket victory over the Kings.

Among all the bowlers in the contest, Sharma was the most economical. He took two wickets while giving only 18 runs in four overs. Jitesh Sharma and Sam Curran, both batsmen, were his victims.
He finished with a staggering 4.50 runs per over. As a result, Punjab Kings could only manage to score 153/8. Mohit Sharma was named Play of the Match for his outstanding bowling.
