Golf: Kaymer hoping to end winless run at Italian Open

Martin Kaymer says he is close to putting a solid four rounds together to finally end a lengthy winless run on tour as he gears up for the Italian Open. Kaymer: "Conditions are not great, but the greens are good. So I think for us professionals, the most important is always the greens. The golf course is fairly soft, some holes they play fairly long. It is a new golf course that we are playing this week, it is very difficult to say how difficult it will play. I think we need to wait until the first round and then off we are going. But it is a nice place to be, I really like to come to Italy and play golf here. There are a few events I would like to win in my career, in Italy a couple of times I have been close. It is a place that I would like to win one day in my career, absolutely yeah. I am very close right now, but in order to win you always need that little bit extra compared to the other competitors. I feel good about the game it is just a matter of putting everything together, and hopefully, it will be one shot better than the [golfer in] second."
