Sevilla defeated Manchester United 2-1 in the semi-finals of the Europa League in Germany on Sunday. Bruno Fernandes scored United’s 22nd penalty of the 2019-20 season early in the first half. The Red Devils’ one-nil lead was broken down by Fernandez Saez in the 27th minute. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side had too many chances in the second half to score goals. However, it was Sevilla’s Luuk de Jong who added a crucial goal in the 78th minute and helped the Spanish side in style. The Spanish outfit will look to extend their remarkable Europa League record with a sixth title next Friday against either Inter Milan or Shakhtar Donetsk, who will contest the second semi-final on Monday. United were left to rue a number of missed chances and end their season with a third defeat in the last four of a knockout competition - they also lost at this stage in the English FA Cup and EFL Cup.
