Manchester United are allegedly close to signing Inter Milan goalkeeper Andre Onana, with the Red Devils poised to pay €50 million (£42.8 million) plus €5 million (£4.3 million) in add-ons.
Erik ten Hag's side are looking for a new custodian after allowing David de Gea to depart on a free transfer this summer, and Onana has been extensively linked with a move to Old Trafford in recent weeks.
Man United and Inter have been negotiating a cost for the custodian, who is said to have already agreed on personal terms with the 20-time English champions.
According to Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano, Ten Hag's team has reached an agreement with Inter, with the English club agreeing to a €50 million (£42.8 million) price plus €5 million (£4.3 million) in add-ons for the former Cameroon international.
With Onana on the cusp of shifting to Manchester, Romano states that the structure of the add-ons is now being considered, but no further complications are expected.
Later that night, on Thursday evening, the Italian journalist tweeted a photo of Onana 'on his final meal' in Milan, where the custodian was preparing to bid farewell to the Serie A giants.
During the 2022-23 season, the 27-year-old was in outstanding form for Inter, appearing on 41 times in all competitions and contributing 19 clean sheets.
Onana signed a five-year contract with Inter after joining from Ajax last summer, but the club is under financial pressure to make some sales in the present market.
The custodian previously worked under Ten Hag at Ajax and is likely to replace the recently freed De Gea as Man United's number one for the 2023-24 season.
With Dean Henderson still suffering from a thigh injury, Tom Heaton is the only senior Red Devils custodian who is healthy and available.
Henderson is largely anticipated to sign a permanent deal with Nottingham Forest this summer, which might lead to the arrival of another custodian alongside Onana.
On Wednesday, Heaton started Man United's first pre-season friendly of the summer against Leeds United, before being replaced by 23-year-old Matej Kovar.
Mason Mount also made his debut in the 2-0 win over the Whites, as the 20-time English champions kicked off their pre-season schedule with a bang.
Man United will play Lyon in their second summer friendly on Wednesday before heading to the United States for friendlies against Arsenal, Wrexham, Real Madrid, and Borussia Dortmund.
