According to reports, Alberto Moleiro of Las Palmas is being actively pursued by Manchester City. The 19-year-old earned his first-team debut last season, appearing on 38 occasions across all competitions, after progressing through Estadio Gran Canaria's youth programme.
The two-time Spain Under-21s international Moleiro has been a crucial member of his second-tier team this season, appearing on 10 occasions and providing three assists.
Despite recently signing a contract extension in July, the teenager's current situation in Spain is the subject of a lot of rumours. His contract still has four years remaining to run. Man City, according to Fichajes, are 'going with everything" to try to land the midfielder, and the Citizens have dispatched a number of scouts to keep an eye on him throughout the 2021-22 season.
According to the report, Moleiro, whose current contract includes a €30 million (£26.2 million) release clause, has been "directly" recommended for a transfer by Pep Guardiola, the English club's head coach.
Although there is rumour that an official offer has not yet been made for the teenager, Las Palmas is anticipated to lose him at the end of the season due to his outstanding progress.
In the course of the summer, Moleiro spoke openly about the rumours surrounding his future, with Barcelona reportedly considering making an offer for him prior to the 2022-23 season.
"We finished the playoff against Tenerife and I remember that in the following two weeks news about Barca or other teams began to sound. I stand aside and let my agents take [care of] it,"
he told Marca.
"I was getting information little by little, but I was very calm. My parents, not so much, because they read a lot of things and didn't know anything. Being my first summer at a professional level, it was a bit of a shock, but now I'm calm. I have signed four years with Las Palmas and I am very happy."
"I don't believe it when I see it, really (interest from Man City and Barcelona). I think it's fake news, but it's true that little by little you believe it and that means you're doing things right. You have to follow the same path."
"I see myself in teams that play with the ball because without the ball I suffer. I can also play without the ball, but it costs me a little more and I think the ideal would be teams where they like to play, I get along well there."
Prior to making his club debut at age 17 in August 2021, Moleiro played for both Las Palmas B and Las Palmas C.
The midfielder participated for 75 minutes of his team's recent 1-0 victory over Ponferradina, which has put La Palmas atop the Segunda Division standings as they attempt to return to La Liga for the first time since 2018.
