Football News: Liverpool 'preparing monumental bid for Kylian Mbappe'

Liverpool are allegedly willing to make a significant deal for Paris Saint-Germain striker Kylian Mbappe.

Jurgen Klopp's priority this summer has been to add at least two new central midfielders to his squad, as well as another defender at either right-back or center-back.

As it stands, Alexis Mac Allister and Dominik Szoboszlai have come for a reported £95 million, with the two expecting to be significant figures in the engine room and final third, respectively.

However, Klopp faces the risk of his midfield becoming even more disorganised, with Fabinho and Jordan Henderson reportedly on the verge of signing for Saudi Arabian clubs.

With replacements and reinforcement needed elsewhere, the prevailing perception is that signing a new attacker is near the bottom of Klopp's summer to-do list.

Nonetheless, according to AS, Liverpool are ready to make a'monumental' move to land Mbappe.

Paris Saint-Germain have been shocked to learn that their all-time leading goalscorer has openly expressed his intention to quit the club on a free transfer in 2024.

As a result, the 2018 World Cup winner has been placed on the market and will not be included in the club's squad for the upcoming pre-season friendlies, indicating that the club wishes to ease an exit as quickly as possible.

Mbappe's stance is claimed to have remained unaltered, with the youngster willing to being on the outskirts of the squad in order to become a free agent in less than a year.

The scenario has sparked interest from other clubs, with Al-Hilal presently seen as the most likely to satisfy PSG's demands in what would be considered a bigger coup for the Saudi Pro League than obtaining Cristiano Ronaldo.

Chelsea are also thought to be weighing whether a deal for the 24-year-old is feasible given PSG's desire to reclaim around £160 million.

Despite considerably cutting their pay expenditure for the time being, Liverpool has only raised small sums through player sales this summer, which may prove critical.

The Merseyside giants are also without Champions League football, instead competing in the Europa League, and it is unclear whether this will be a sticking point in any negotiations.

Real Madrid remain the favourites to recruit Mbappe, particularly in 2024, having already spent on than £100 million on Jude Bellingham since the end of last season.
