Football News: Jurgen Klopp agent rubbishes Liverpool exit talk amid Germany links

Jurgen Klopp's representative has knocked down suggestions that the Liverpool manager may leave Anfield to lead the German national team.

Hansi Flick, the current manager of Die Mannschaft, has come under heavy scrutiny as his team has had a dreadful run of play over the last 15 months, winning just four of their last 16 games in all competitions.

The four-time World Cup champions were eliminated in the group stage of the 2022 tournament in Qatar before placing third in their UEFA Nations League group after winning only one of their six matches.

Germany has now failed to win any of its three friendlies during this month's international break, drawing 3-3 with Ukraine before losing without scoring to Poland and Colombia.

Only Erich Ribbeck, who won only 10 of his 24 matches as Germany manager between 1998 and 2000, has a worse record, and the German FA is said to be pondering his long-term future.

The appointment of Klopp, according to German news site Bild, would be the "premium solution" to the national team's difficulties if they decide to break ways with Flick.

Klopp's representative, Mark Kosicke, has reiterated that the 56-year-old has a "long-term contract" with Liverpool that expires in June 2026 and that he has no plans to leave Anfield.

Speaking to Bild, Kosicke said:

"Jurgen has a long-term contract with the LFC and the DFB has a national coach, so it's not an issue for us."

However, according to The Mirror, Klopp has a hidden escape provision in his contract that permits him to end his Liverpool career whenever he wants and relocate himself and his family to Germany.

Before appointing Flick in 2021, Klopp stated that it would be a "great honour" to manage the German national team at some point in his career, but he has emphasised that he is focused on his current job at Liverpool and intends to complete his contract.

"I have an important role here at Liverpool,"

Klopp told Bild.

"There is no way to say, 'oh, national coach, that would be an interesting job. That would be a great honour without question, but the timing is not right. I can't."

Since taking over as Liverpool manager in October 2015, Klopp has won 60% of his 433 games and seven trophies, including the Premier League, Champions League, FA Cup, and EFL Cup.

However, the German experienced a difficult trophyless 2022-23 season in which the Reds finished fifth in the Premier League, failing to qualify for the Champions League the next season.
