Football News : Cristiano Ronaldo wants to make a move to Borussia Dortmund

According to reports, Cristiano Ronaldo is willing to join Bundesliga team Borussia Dortmund. The Manchester United forward previously stated that he would like to leave the organisation this summer in order to play in the Champions League.

Despite links to some of the greatest teams in Europe, such as Bayern Munich, Napoli, and Chelsea, no transfer has taken place as of yet. However, according to a report in Bild, Ronaldo is open to joining Borussia Dortmund, so a departure from Old Trafford is still a possibility.

Jorge Mendes is allegedly now negotiating a move, and Dortmund is debating whether or not to make an offer for the 37-year-old.Despite Ronaldo's willingness to accept a price drop, the German club is concerned about the deal's sustainability because of the player's high wage demands.

The German newspaper claims that Mendes has already made him available to BVB executives but has only received disappointing feedback. Ronaldo is eager to move to Dortmund since the Bundesliga powerhouses are participating in the Champions League this season, and the Portuguese superstar wants to solidify his status as the competition's leading scorer.

In terms of goals scored, Ronaldo leads Lionel Messi by 15 goals in the history of the competition. Ronaldo, a former Real Madrid and Juventus talisman, scored six goals in seven games for United last season in the UCL.

The Red Devils will now, however, participate in the inferior Europa League for the following season, with new manager Erik ten Hag charged with elevating United to the top. However, it might take some time, and Ronaldo isn't keen on staying for what is expected to be a protracted rebuilding phase.

The Red Devils' No. 7 has played in both of their Premier League games thus far, but numerous rumours indicate that he hasn't been in a good mood at the Carrington training facility. The five-time Ballon d'Or winner recently posted on Instagram that the truth about his status will surface "in a matter of weeks" as Ten Hag and United executives debate if it is worth maintaining a disgruntled Ronaldo for the sake of his goals.

"They know the truth when they interview in a couple weeks,"

Ronaldo wrote.

"The media is telling lies. I have a notebook and in the last few months of the 100 news I made, only 5 were right. Imagine how it is. Stick with that tip."

Sporting Lisbon reportedly offered to take him back in a homecoming transfer, according to The Independent, but only if the Red Devils tore up his £360,000-per-week contract and allowed him to depart for free. Ronaldo's future will need to be decided on shortly, though, as the September 1 transfer deadline is drawing near.

Now, it will be interesting to see which club opts for Ronaldo with only 14 days left in closing of the summer transfer window.
