Jadon Sancho, an attacker for Manchester United, is apparently a target for Chelsea. The Red Devils prevailed in the fight to recruit the 22-year-old forward ahead of the 2021-2022 season because of his performance for Borussia Dortmund between 2017 and 2021, which made him one of the most sought-after players in European football.
However, Sancho struggled to make an impact last season, managing just five goals and three assists in 38 appearances across all competitions. The forward has made 14 appearances for Erik ten Hag's team this season, scoring three goals and dishing out one assist, although he hasn't taken the field for the team since the 1-1 draw with Chelsea on October 22.
Sancho was not included in the England World Cup roster for 2022, and he did not go to Spain with Man United for their midseason training camp. Instead, the attacker has been training with Dutch instructors in the Netherlands, who Ten Hag is said to have personally suggested.
"Jadon Sancho is continuing his individual training programme as part of a process to get back to his highest level. The club is fully supporting him in this,"
said the club on their official website.
Sancho will now try to be a part of the team's next competitive game, which is scheduled for December 21 against Burnley in the EFL Cup.
The Englishman is under contract at Old Trafford through June 2026, with a possible extension of another year.
Calciomercatoweb claims that Chelsea are eager to investigate the possibilities of bringing Sancho to Stamford Bridge.
According to the source, Christian Pulisic, a USA international, is expected to leave Chelsea for Manchester United next season.
Chelsea supposedly holds the opinion that Pulisic leaving would free up money to sign Sancho, with the Red Devils possibly cutting their losses.
Before joining Manchester City, Sancho began his youth career at Watford, playing for the Hornets from 2007 until 2015.
The forward chose to join Dortmund over a contract extension at Man City, and while playing in Germany, he won the DFB-Pokal and DFL-Supercup.
