Youssoufa Moukoko, a standout prospect for Borussia Dortmund, is reportedly a target for Chelsea in the January transfer window. In 22 games in all competitions this season, the 18-year-old attacker has established himself as a first-team regular with the Bundesliga squad, scoring six goals and dishing out six assists.
Moukoko's strong play earned him a spot in the Germany World Cup team for 2022, and when he came off the bench in the dying minutes of the 2-1 group-stage loss to Japan, he became the country's youngest-ever player.
When the transfer window reopens in the new year, the BVB wonderkid is expected to become one of the most sought-after adolescents, with teams like Chelsea, Manchester City, Manchester United, Liverpool, Barcelona, and Real Madrid vying for his services.
The Athletic reports that Chelsea is considering a potential move for Moukoko, and other Premier League clubs think the Blues' pursuit of the forward is advanced, albeit a deal is not currently believed to be close.
According to the source, Chelsea has already started laying the groundwork for a move for Moukoko ahead of the summer, but after Armando Broja sustained a knee injury on Sunday, they will look into the possibilities of signing the young player in January.
After a harmless challenge on EzriKonsa in the 24th minute of the 1-0 midseason friendly loss to Aston Villa in Abu Dhabi, Broja was taken off on a stretcher.
The 21-year-injury old's is still being assessed by Chelsea, but they reportedly worry that he may have torn his ACL and will need to spend a lot of time recovering.
Graham Potter, the head coach, stated to reporters after the game:
"It was an unfortunate action, I think he got caught up with their player and the ground.
"It doesn't look positive at the moment, but it is too early to say. Fingers crossed, but it is an awkward one."
Therefore, Chelsea might be obliged to move up their plans to bring in a new centre striker during the winter transfer window. Moukoko is thought to be one of their top targets.
As his contract at Dortmund is set to expire at the end of the current campaign and he will be allowed to enter into pre-contract negotiations with international clubs beginning in January, Moukoko faces an uncertain future at the club.
Although the forward has said he would be interested in sticking put at Dortmund, the teenager may be available in January for a discounted price.
Speaking about his future to the German press, via football. london, Moukoko said:
"I feel very comfortable in Dortmund, I feel the confidence of the coach. You'll find out in the end whether I decide to stay or not."
Moukoko has made 59 first-team appearances for Dortmund in all competitions since making his professional debut the day after turning 16 in November of last year, totaling 11 goals and 8 assists.
