Football News : Chelsea closing on appointing Graham Potter as their new manager

Graham Potter will reportedly receive an offer from Chelsea for the open manager position.
Chelsea has worked rapidly to recruit Thomas Tuchel's replacement after announcing his dismissal on Wednesday morning.

The latest blow in a shaky season for the Blues came on Tuesday night when Dinamo Zagreb defeated them 1-0 in the Champions League.

Following the match in Croatia, Tuchel said that his team had once again underperformed, implying that all of his players' skillsets were inadequate.

There seemed to be little prospect of the German being removed of his duties given the club's extensive transfer market spending and Tuchel's freedom to have a significant say in new hires.

Tuchel's tenure ends after 100 games, but Chelsea revealed on Wednesday morning that they had decided to part ways with him.

A club statement read

"Chelsea Football Club has today parted company with Head Coach Thomas Tuchel."

"On behalf of everyone at Chelsea FC, the Club would like to place on record its gratitude to Thomas and his staff for all their efforts during their time with the Club. Thomas will rightly have a place in Chelsea's history after winning the Champions League, the Super Cup and Club World Cup in his time here."

"As the new ownership group reaches 100 days since taking over the Club, and as it continues its hard work to take the club forward, the new owners believe it is the right time to make this transition."

"Chelsea';s coaching staff will take charge of the team for training and the preparation of our upcoming matches as the Club moves swiftly to appoint a new head coach."

Both former Real Madrid manager and former Tottenham Hotspur manager, Zinedine Zidane & Mauricio Pochettino have been mentioned in connection with the open role.

However, when Brighton & Hove Albion gave the Blues permission to speak to the 47-year-old, Potter appears to be Chelsea's top choice. Potter is expected to receive the manager's position after conversations with Chelsea's co-controlling owners Todd Boehly and Behdad Eghbali.

According to the report, Potter will assume leadership in time for Chelsea's Premier League match against Fulham on Saturday if he accepts the position.

As per the sources, Potter's current Brighton contract has a £12 million release clause, although that figure might increase depending on how many assistant coaches follow the former Swansea City manager to Stamford Bridge.

After losing to Dinamo Zagreb in Tuchel's final game as manager, Chelsea is currently sixth in the Premier League and last in their Champions' League group.

While the Blues fans believe that they got their Roman Abramovich 2.0 in name of Todd Boehly.
