Arsenal are still to agree on a deal for West Ham United midfielder Declan Rice, according to reports.
The Gunners have made a concerted effort to secure their top target this summer, submitting several bids for the England international.
West Ham rejected their first two proposals of £80 million plus add-ons and £75 million plus £15 million in add-ons, giving Manchester City hope of completing a deal.
However, the reigning European champions recently dropped out of the race when their £90 million offer was rejected.
According to a recent rumour, Arsenal returned to the bargaining table and agreed on a sum of £100 million plus £5 million in add-ons.
However, the two clubs must yet work out the terms of the payment arrangement before a British record transfer can be accomplished.
West Ham are waiting for the Gunners to reach an agreement on the terms of the transaction, according to The Sun.
According to the source, talks are ongoing over how the initial £100 million fee will be paid, with West Ham seeking to earn the complete sum by 2025.
Meanwhile, Arsenal would prefer to spread the large sum across five years, resulting in the £100 million being paid by 2028.
Despite the fact that the two parties have yet to agree on a payment mechanism, there is no indication that the move will be hampered.
If all goes as planned, the midfielder will depart West Ham after 245 appearances in all competitions.
Rice will be Arsenal's newest signing, following the addition of Kai Havertz from Chelsea earlier this summer.
The Gunners are also close to signing Jurrien Timber from Ajax, with discussions nearing completion.
Breaking the English record transfer fee has become a recent trend in the Premier League and this time it looks like Arsenal will pave the way to do so.
