Football News : Algeria fans in Paris celebrate Arab Cup victory amid clashes with police

Algeria supporters defied a ban on gathering at the Champs-Élysées to celebrate the country's victory in the FIFA Arab Cup Saturday.

Despite the absence of their European-based stars - including Manchester City's Riyad Mahrez - the Fennec Foxes defeated Tunisia 2-0 after extra time in the final in Doha.

Paris police said late Saturday that 130 people had been fined for non-compliance with a city order issued Thursday.

That decree was a response to trouble and unruly behaviour when fans gathered at the site during previous matches in the tournament.

On those occasions, traffic was disrupted, and smoke bombs and projectiles were directed at police.
