Football: Monaco edge past Nantes to go top

Niko Kovac secured his first home victory as Monaco head coach after his side's 2-1 win over Nantes on Sunday. The hosts got off to the perfect start when Sofiane Diop rifled home after just five minutes. Nantes equalised with 30 minutes remaining through Ludovic Blas, but Monaco were ahead again four minutes later when substitute Willem Geubbels chipped home a brilliant finish. Monaco are unbeaten in the new Ligue 1 season, with their two wins and a draw enough to see them rise to the summit of the league table.
