Cricket News : Virat Kohli to step down as India's T20 captain post T20 WC

Virat Kohli will step down as India's T20 international captain after the 2021 T20 World Cup which will be played in UAE. Virat Kohli will captain India for the 2021 T20 World Cup. Virat Kohli will continue to remain India's captain in ODIs and Test matches. Virat Kohli has captained India in 45 T20 international matches winning 27 of them. Rohit Sharma is likely going to take over as India's captain in T20s as he is the vice-captain of the side and has captained India in ODIs and T20Is in Virat Kohli's absence. Kohli took over as captain in the shortest format in 2017 after Mahendra Singh Dhoni stepped down from his position. This will be the first time that Kohli will lead India in the ICC T20 World Cup. He has led the team to the final of the 2017 ICC Champions Trophy and the semi-final of the 2019 ICC World Cup in the past. Just like England and Australia India too will now have split captaincy with Virat Kohli in ODIs and Tests and Rohit Sharma in T20Is.
