Cricket News: Rahul Dravid shares India's game plan to qualify for WTC final

Rahul Dravid, the head coach of Team India, believes that the team is not planning too far ahead as it approaches the championship match of the ICC World Test Championship (WTC) 2021-23 cycle.

The first of the team's two Test matches against Bangladesh is now taking place in Chattogram. India will need to win the majority of their remaining matches if they are to qualify for the competition's finals, even if the series counts for the WTC '21-'23 cycle.

The side must approach each Test match as it comes, according to the head coach of India.

"It is one step at a time. I don't think we can start looking at the sixth one before we start here. We have got to win this one first. We have to play our best cricket to give ourselves a chance and then go to Dhaka and replicate. Just take it as we go,"

said Dravid in an interview with BCCI.tv.

Dravid went on to say that his team is aware of the obstacles they must overcome in order to succeed. Nevertheless, he emphasised taking each match as it came and getting ready for the series against Australia.

"We know we have a challenge in our hands, we have to win a majority of the games we have left in the championship."

"But we are not going to get there if we don't take the first steps well. We have to focus on this one and then see how the cards fall and then we will see what we have to do in the series against Australia,"

added Dravid.

The three teams with a decent chance of making it to the championship match of the international ICC competition are Australia, South Africa, and team India. India's next red-ball assignment after the Bangladesh series is against Australia, and it will be crucial for their qualifying.

Prior to playing India in February 2023, Pat Cummins' Australia is preparing for their match against the Proteas.
