Cricket News: MS Dhoni loses cool in rare occurrence during IPL 2023 game

The return match between Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and Rajasthan Royals (RR) in the Indian Premier League 2023 began on Thursday, April 27 at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur.

Sanju Samson, the RR captain, won the toss and chose to bat first. Yashasvi Jaiswal, the teenage opener, shone once more with his power-hitting as RR set a 203-run goal for the visitors.

MS Dhoni, CSK's famed captain, is known as 'captain cool' because he rarely loses his calm. However, one such unusual occurrence occurred during Rajasthan's first-inning batting.

The RR openers got the home team off to a good start, as RR finished their batting powerplay with a score of 64/0.As the home team continued their excellent run, the former Indian captain could be seen losing his cool and reacting aggressively.

One of the major reasons behind this was due to CSK fielders' bad performance on the pitch.

Returning to the game, Jaiswal struck a blistering half-century after putting on a 50-run stand with opening partner Jos Buttler. The 21-year-old batsman needed only 26 balls to reach his half-century, his third of the season.

Tushar Deshpande removed him after he hit 77 runs off 43 balls to help RR reach 202 in 20 overs. His inning featured eight boundaries and four sixes.

Meanwhile, in the ninth over, Ravindra Jadeja gave CSK their first breakthrough by dismissing Buttler. However, it was Deshpande's exploits in the 14th over that put an end to RR's onslaught, as the 27-year-old struck twice to eliminate Jaiswal and skipper Sanju Samson.

Shimron Hetmyer was subsequently dismissed by Maheesh Theekshana in the first ball of the seventh over, significantly dampening RR's aspirations of a much greater total than what they eventually reached.

Dhruv Jurel (34 off 15) batted and scored a six and a four in the penultimate over bowled by Matheesha Pathirana. However, Jurel's outstanding performance was cut short by an outstanding throw from behind the stumps by MS Dhoni, as RR finished their stint on 202/5.

While unfortunately, for CSK the match ended in a defeat and MS Dhoni-led side 3rd on the table after 8 matches.
