Cricket News: “Couldn't believe it” - Trent Boult on dismissing Kohli for duck in IPL 2023

Trent Boult, the star Rajasthan Royals pacer, has been one of the most essential players for the inaugural champions since he was signed for INR 8 crore at the IPL 2022 auctions.

Boult has been a force to be reckoned with over the years, known for delivering his side with early wickets in the powerplay.

The 33-year-old got 16 wickets in 16 matches in the IPL 2022, and he has followed that up with another amazing season in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023, which is currently underway. Boult has taken 10 wickets in eight games he has played so far in the league this season.

In a recent interview, the renowned pacer reflected on his favourite first-over wicket from the IPL 2023, and he chose none other than Virat Kohli, whom he dismissed for a golden duck in the 32nd game of the tournament on April 23.

"My kids had just got here. I was on 99 [IPL] wickets; it was about 700 degrees, and I was bowling to probably the best opening pair in the whole tournament. To put one straight into Virat's knee first ball was pretty cool. I don't really normally give it too much celebration, but I quickly gave it a big turnaround to the family up in the hospitality area. I remember waking up at about 4 a.m. that morning because my kids were jet-lagged,"

Boult was quoted as saying by ESPNcricinfo.

"I said, 'Come on boys, you need to go to sleep. Daddy's got a big game today. I'm playing against one of the best batters in the world.' My oldest son said, 'Are you going to get him out?' I said, 'Probably not, and I actually managed to! I couldn't believe it,"

He added.

Boult was rested for the Rajasthan Royals' most recent game against Sunrisers Hyderabad, which they lost to the Aiden Markram-led side. On Thursday, May 11, they will travel to Eden Gardens to face the Kolkata Knight Riders in the tournament's 56th game.
