The Chess Players Forum, which came to limelight for various reasons has now written to the Sports Minister of India Kiren Rijiju saying that the All India Chess Federation is not following the national Development Sports Code 2011 which is mandatory for all the National Sports Federations to follow otherwise it may have severe repercussions. Two key issues were highlighted in the letter to Mr. Rijiju by CPF president Varugeese Koshy which are, first, code of conduct for players and second the lack of representation of prominent players in the management of the federation. This is to be recalled that the AICF has been divided into two factions, one is led by Bharat Singh Chauhan and the other one by P.R. Venketrama Raja. AICF was supposed to hold elections by September 30th but due to the lockdown and legal complications, that was not possible. The matter is pending in Madras High Court. A hearing is scheduled for November 9.
