Bumrah will have some little bit of hiccups: Balaji

Former India player Lakshmipathy Balaji says Jasprit Bumrah's return to international cricket will be difficult. The cricketer needed a long time to recuperate from back surgery, and Balaji expects he would have a few snags here and there.

Meanwhile, the three-match T20I series against Ireland is extremely important since his fitness will be rigorously monitored before BCCI selectors make a final decision on Asia Cup and World Cup squads.

"Any back surgery, it'll have some little bit of hiccups here and there. But that is the maximum you can do. For conservative healing, if it has not healed, and you have the surgery option and to take it and then come back, it's the last stage... So, everything is going to be new (for him), and again getting back, there will be challenges, but that is what makes individuals perform higher,"

Balaji stated while talking to Sportstar.

Mohammed Siraj has emerged as a major force in the last year. In Bumrah's absence, he has lived up to expectations and will be crucial for the national squad in the forthcoming Asia Cup and ODI World Cup.

Balaji praised the cricketer, stating that he has done really well and that with him in form, India has a very good chance of winning their third ODI World Cup.

"Siraj has done well. In the recent past in white-ball cricket, Siraj has done exceedingly well. So, it's up to the selection committee and the team management. But we have got a very good chance (of winning the World Cup) this time!"

Balaji mentioned.

If selected, the Asia Cup will work as a pre-World Cup preparation for Jasprit Bumrah, who is eager to be in the ODI WC squad to be held in the month of October and November.
