Ireland's Katie Taylor will put her status as undisputed lightweight champion on the line in a rematch against Delfine Persoon of Belgium on the Dillian Whyte-Alexander Povetkin bill on August 22. Taylor added Persoon's WBC title to her WBA, IBF and WBO crowns at Madison Square Garden in New York in June last year after a razor-thin majority decision verdict with many at ringside and beyond feeling the Belgian deserved the win. The return fight will be held in the garden of promoter Eddie Hearn's estate near Brentwood in the English county of Essex in the UK and will take place behind closed doors because of the coronavirus pandemic. With a high-profile showdown against Amanda Serrano falling through, Taylor wanted the next best alternative and aims to prove that she is the best fighter in the world at her weight.
