Asia Cup 2022 : Kuldeep Sen replaces Deepak Chahar in India’s squad vs Pakistan

According to a report in Dainik Bhaskar, the right-arm medium pacer Deepak Chahar will be replaced by Kuldeep Sen in India’s Asia Cup 2022 squad.Meanwhile, the 15th Asia Cup is all set to take place from August 27 to September 11 in 2022.

The host nation of Sri Lanka will play Afghanistan in the opening match of the tournament, which will take place in the United Arab Emirates (UAE).On Sunday, August 28, the Babar Azam-led Pakistan National Cricket Team and the Rohit Sharma-led India National Cricket Team will square off against each other.

In total, the two teams have faced off 14 times throughout the Asia Cup till date.Notably, star pacers Jasprit Bumrah and Harshal Patel got ruled out of the upcoming Asia Cup 2022 due to their respective injuries.

The three pacers in India's 15-man team are Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Arshdeep Singh, and Avesh Khan.Along with Shreyas Iyer and Axar Patel, bowler Chahar was chosen as a standby player.

Chahar returned to the team for the three-match ODI series against Zimbabwe after a 6-month injury layoff. While as per reports, due to an injury, Chahar will miss the competition, and Kuldeep has been added to the roster.

Kuldeep made his first-class debut for Madhya Pradesh in the 2018-19 Ranji Trophy in November of that year. The Rajasthan Royals purchased Kuldeep for INR 20 lakh at the mega-auction for the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022. He dazzled everyone with his ability to consistently bowl at over 145 kmph during the competition.

Kuldeep Sen took 8 wickets overall for Rajasthan Royals in 7 games of the Indian Premier League 2022, with an economy of 9.41 and an average of 29.6.

Meanwhile, due to the increased political tensions between the two neighbours, the highly anticipated match has decreased in frequency in recent years.

It has just increased the suspense. The most recent cricket match between these two teams took place in the 2021 ICC Men's T20 World Cup in the UAE. It was a one-sided contest, with India losing by 10 wickets and Pakistan winning the tournament for the first time.
