American eighth seed Frances Tiafoe needed a gruelling deciding set tie-break before overcoming Japan's Yoshihito Nishioka 2-6, 6-3, 7-6(5) to reach the quarter-finals of the Estoril Open on Thursday. Tiafoe, ranked 31 in the world, now faces lucky loser Pablo Cuevas of Uruguay in the next round.
