Seed no.1 Elina Svitolina suffered a shock loss at the Kremlin Cup. It was unseeded Veronika Kudermetova who rose to the occasion in the round of 16. Kudermetova won 6-2, 1-6, 7-5 to pave her way to the quarter-finals.
