Tennis: Elina Svitolina beat Petra Kvitova 6-3, 6-3 in WTA Finals

World number seven Elina Svitolina ended a seven-match losing streak against fourth seed Petra Kvitova to open the WTA Finals in Singapore. The 24-year-old had not beaten the double Wimbledon champion since 2014 but looked dominant in her 6-3, 6-3 victory. Svitolina will be seeking her first semi-final appearance at the WTA Finals after going 1-2 in her debut appearance last year. The 2011 WTA Finals champion Kvitova will be hoping to bounce back from her opening defeat.
