Football: Chelsea discuss 'hardest' WSL title win and back Black Lives Matter

Chelsea manager Emma Hayes admitted her third title with the 'Blues' was 'the hardest title to win' after the FA announced they were the 2019-20 FA Women's Super League champions. "There's no doubt that this has been the hardest title to win in my time here, and that's a real credit not just for the teams that are involved", said Hayes during a video conference on Saturday. The Football Association board reached the majority decision to decide the season on a basic points-per-game system after the coronavirus pandemic saw the top division and Championship brought to an early halt. "I trust in the people that are running our league and I believe we will come back bigger, stronger and better from this", added Hayes who defended FA decision. Chelsea have been awarded the Women's Super League title as a result, with Manchester City finishing second and joining Emma Hayes' side in qualifying for next season's Women's Champions League. Liverpool have been relegated to the Championship and will be replaced by Aston Villa, who were awarded the second tier title on PPG. Hayes, who previously won WSL titles with Chelsea in 2015 and 2018, defended Black Lives Matter protests across the world as thousands of people honored the memory of George Floyd. "I share the concerns around the world about lack of everything from opportunity to groups of people being oppressed over the years. And it's a situation that I think was bubbling away and quite rightly, because black lives do matter", said Hayes.
