Sports News: Delhi HC says no recognition to NSFs not complying with sports code

The Delhi High Court in its fresh order has stated that the Sports Ministry cannot give recognition to any National Sports Federation which is not in compliance with the National Development Sports Code 2011. The decision was taken by the HC on PIL filed by Supreme Court Lawyer Rahul Mehra. HC has even directed the Sports Ministry to give a reply within 10 days over whether all the NSFs which have been granted recognition following sports code or not. Sports Ministry as per their website has granted annual provisional recognition to 54 National Sports Federations and petitioner Mehra has urged Delhi HC that the 41 NSFs which have been given recognition until November 3 by the sports ministry should be derecognized as they are in violation of sports code. Ministry had also granted recognition to 14 NSFs including Athletics Federation of India, Boxing Federation of India, Indian Golf Union till December 31 because their elections were due and petitioner Mehra has also requested the court to call these elections null and void.
