An unprecedented year for the sport of shooting in India ended with a record number of Olympic quota places for the 2020 Games in Tokyo. From 12 at Rio four years ago, the quota count has grown to 15 for the Olympics next year. That success has come on the back of a record gold-medal haul in 2019. With a first-ever triple gold-medal haul at the year-ending ISSF World Cup Final in Putian, the overall gold tally for the senior India shooters grew to 19 for the year, including 16 across four World Cup cycles.
